VidyaRath – An Education On Wheels Initiative For Underprivileged Children

F+S India prides itself on being a socially inclusive organization. One such corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative recently began when we collaborated with the NGO Thinksharp foundation for a StudyMall project.

The VidyaRath initiative provides access to computer education and a library for students at their school’s doorsteps. The VidyaRath vehicle will cover one school per day every week. This initiative will benefit more than 300 rural children from various district development council schools in and around Pune City.On the occasion of Dussehra (auspicious day as per the Hindu calendar) on October 14th 2021, the F+S India team inaugurated ‘VidyaRath’ - a StudyMall project. ‘Vidya’ is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge, and ‘Rath’ translates as a four-wheeled chariot.

Ashish Maheshwari, Managing Director F+S India, commented, “I am very excited about this initiative. The entire project was conceptualized, designed, and executed in-house with the help of volunteers from our FS India team. From sourcing to the engineering and graphics teams, many people came together to make it happen. During Covid, when schools were closed, students lost two precious years of learning opportunities. So, we hope that this initiative will bring smiles to many faces and make a difference by providing quality education to poor and disadvantaged kids. I truly believe that this is only the beginning and that we will continue to positively impact our community as we continue to grow”.

So far, the StudyMall Project has helped more than 5000 rural children with reading, learning, and doing better in their studies. StudyMall has reached 33 schools in 33 villages of Maharashtra.
