Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

Project Overview

Completed in 2019, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) serves 16 airlines with three concourses and 35 gates. Replacing a former 60-year-old facility, the $1 billion reconstruction project accommodates the rapidly growing airport and elevates the arrival and departure experience.

To give the ultra-modern setting a sense of place, Atkins worked with Forms+Surfaces to deliver high-end design solutions without the high price tag.

Our VividGlass beautifully reflects imagery that captures the essence of the region. In the central atrium, ViviSpectra Spectrum glass brings the quintessential look of live oak trees draped in fog to a monumental feature wall and the elevator interiors positioned on the opposite side.

Extending throughout the terminal’s three concourses, our Fused Metal and stainless steel evoke the rich, saturated colors of local building materials. A fitting choice for high traffic settings, the materials transform otherwise ordinary places like the baggage claim areas, ticket counters, restrooms, and concessions into elegant, functional spaces.

Also used on the project: our InForm Flight Information Displays and Universal Litter & Recycling Receptacles round out the installation.
